Men often ask me how guys can break into the porn industry. Since there is interest in male porn facts I will give you some of my thoughts.

DEFINITIONS

First, I shall define the word industry as the porn industry is different to the escort industry, which I also get a few inquiries about.

Industry defined

An industry is “a sector (not an individual company) that produces goods or related services within an economy. The major source of revenue (money) of a group or company is an indicator of what industry it should be classified in.” Some examples of different industries are oil, agriculture, mining, law enforcement, health care and – of course – porn!

Porn Defined

Porn is, according to Wikipedia is defined as a sexual subject material “such as a picture, video, or text,” that is considered sexually arousing indicated for the consumption by adults, pornography depictions have evolved from cave painting, some forty millennia ago, to virtual reality presentations in modern-day. Pornography use is considered a widespread recreational activity among people in-line with other digitally mediated activities such as use of social media or video games. A distinction is often made regarding adult content as whether to classify it as pornography or erotica.

The porn industry, therefore, is a sector within the global economy that produces goods & services pertaining to the portrayal of sexual subject matter, for sexual arousal.

Porn is an industry. All industries always involve an exchange of assets.

Google defines an asset as “a useful or valuable thing, person, or quality.” One of the most common assets that’s commonly exchanged is money. Money is exchanged every single day between porn producers, porn agents, porn actors and others in the industry.

HOW TO GET INTO PORN

If you ask “how do I get into porn?” what you are actually asking is “how can I become involved in the industry that produces pornographic movies & images for financial gain?”

This would be my first question:

I would ask yourself WHY you want to get into the porn industry? I mean, do you know much about it? Or are you a little deluded and think that a long, thick cock and having lots of sex is lucrative, fun and what you really want to do?

It is my experience that those who ask this have done little research around what it is actually like for the male gender. It isn’t glamorous and it is highly likely it is not anywhere near as much fun as what you think. I know you might be thinking I am the one deluded saying this but read on.

2^nd Important question

The second question to ask yourself is….what assets do you bring to the porn industry?

I suggest you do a brainstorm. Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down as many things that you can think of that you could potentially bring to the porn industry. How are you going to stand out? How are you going to be indispensable? Here are some potential examples:

• Your standout physique
• Your butt
• Your penis – large, or unique in some way, see featured image
• Your willingness (perhaps to do sexual acts that other guys aren’t so keen on? For example, anal sex or gay for pay
• Your commitment, dedication and incredible work ethic
• Your reliability and punctuality
• Your flexibility (physical or otherwise)
• Do you have a Brad Pitt face?
• Other people that you know & influence (for referrals, or as a co-performer)
• Your government-issued ID (this is mandatoryto work in the porn industry)
• Do you have any real estate that you can rent out to producers for shoots?
• Your high-end video or photography equipment
• Your experience
• Your lack of experience
• Your health (everyone in the industry is required to get tested for STD’s every 14 – 30 days – unhealthy people aren’t allowed to work)
• Your money, so that perhaps you could become a porn investor?
• Your skills (videography, recruiting, communication skills, being able – as a guy – to ‘last longer’…

Figuring out how to get into porn is typically going to be easiest for the female born.

We are at the top of the “hierarchy”, and yes, there is indeed a hierarchy. 😊

Next is gay men.

3^rd are trans people.

And at the bottom of the list are straight guys. This means you should expect a really challenging time breaking into the porn industry. Sorry to burst your bubble. Especially those unwilling to do gay for pay. And then those off-camera workers such as producers, directors, video editors, photographers, agents, managers.

CONCLUSION

Here is the conundrum. Most people that are seeking how to get into porn are straight males, and people endeavoring to work off-camera. However, the greatest need of the industry is for the exact opposite: natural-born females that can work with assigned male actors.

Assigned actors means professional male pornstars, not the girls’ boyfriends or husbands which is who they would prefer to do the scenes with. This, however, is the group with the least number of new applicants. The highest demand has the smallest supply, and the largest supply is met by the absolute smallest demand. 

Producers are not interested in interviewing newbies. They like all of us are time-poor and when they have proven males with plenty of experience, they are looking for new females, not males.

Now, in my next article I am going to give you a VERY interesting perspective and probably disappoint you. I am going to explain to you how the majority of men view the work, and, how much they actually earn. This will be an extremely interesting read though.
